Technically, Projectfork is very different from the "standard" Joomla component as it is just a framework that holds together a lot of different "parts" or "extensions". You could say that Projectfork is like having Joomla installed inside Joomla :)
This is important to know and it will help you understand how to work with Projectfork in many different ways. First, lets look at the different "extensions":

Sections
You can compare sections to what "components" are in Joomla. These are the biggest extensions in Projectfork and they offer all the main features that you can use.

Panels

Panels are similar to what "modules" are in Joomla. They are commonly used to show smaller elements of Projectfork such as the navigation.

Processes
These extensions are similar to "plugins" in Joomla. They usually perform some manner of background actions that manipulate the inside-behavior of Projectfork.

Mods
Mods are modified files that override the original Projectfork files. These extensions are pretty handy if you want to share your Projectfork modifications with others, or if you want use some for yourself.

Themes
Themes define how Projectfork looks like. Simple as that.

Languages
These extensions translate the Projectfork interface into a different language.

As you can see there are a whole lot of extension types that you can use and play with. All these extensions must be installed through one of the Projectfork installers in the Projectfork config. There you can also configure or remove any extension, allowing you to tailor the system to your needs.
