The first reactions on the beta release were just like I expected: A lot of bugs and confused users. Always the questions that start with "How do I...", "Why can't I ..." etc.. Most of these questions were directly/indirectly related to the access system. This made me think about it again. While it is very powerful, it's a) not working properly at the moment, and b) not user-friendly and transparent enough. So I took a short break over the weekend to look at everything from a distance and as an actual user.
I find that the process of creating/importing users is total nonsense. Just think about it, why would I have to import a user from Joomla to ProjectFork? What if I have hundreds of users? There is no advantage in using separate user ID's from Joomla and it makes both the usage and the code just more complicated. So I'm going to remove this "feature"...no more user import! What else? I think ProjectFork needs a lot more on-screen hints on how you can use it and why a certain feature is not available. Be it because you don't have the necessary permission, or because you have to select a workspace...this needs to be more transparent. If you have any suggestions or questions, please leave a comment below or post in the forum, thank you! The RC will be ready this coming sunday (10/26) and there will be no way you can update to it from any previous version. Updates will be provided for the 2.0 stable release only.
