The Projectfork team is proud to announce the availability of Projectfork 2.2 Beta 2 (download). This Beta release is intended for evaluation purposes and not ready for production (live) environments.

It's been exactly 1 month since the 1st Beta release and we've squashed tons of bugs and added lots of functionality. We'll continue to work around the clock to get Projectfork 2.2 ready for production.

Due to ACL changes, Projectfork 2.2 Beta 2 is NOT compatible with Joomla 1.6. We'll be focusing on that in the next Beta.

Here's a screen of the current Dashboard:

What needs testing

We heavily rely on your feedback for the migration/upgrade script that we've added in this beta. If you want to help, please try out the upgrade script in a safe environment (by working on a copy of your website) - NOT your actual production site. Chances are that the migrations fails and if so, we need to know about it so that everything works when 2.2 goes stable and so that everyone will have a smooth transition.

In order to migrate, download the beta 2 below and copy the "administrator" folder into your joomla root directory and replace any files that already exist. Then take the other 4 files from the archive and copy them to "<jroot>/components/com_projectfork". After that, simply launch your website and click on the Projectfork menu item (frontend/backend, doesn't matter). And again, do not do this on your actual production site! If you encouter any problems or difficulties, please give us a full report on what went wrong in the forum (preferably) or leave a comment.

Another thing that needs testing are the email notifcations. All notifcations are enabled by default and they should fire automatically once you create a project, invite users, create tasks etc. Please try them out and let us know if you experience any problems (such as formatting, broken links, etc.).

And then we have SEO and SSL (since beta1) support added. But so far we haven't received any feedback on that. Maybe because it's all working properly? Please try again :) You can enable SSL in the Projectfork global config. SEO is automatically enabled if you enable it in the Joomla config.

And the last thing that needs testing, is the extension installer. I have added several example extensions located in "<jroot>/administrator/components/com_projectfork/_dev". Please try to install them and let us know how it works out. If you install the example theme, please do not set it as default because it does not contain any actual layout and you won't be able to go back to normal that easily.

If you're a developer, the example extensions should provide you with enough information to get started. So go ahead and explore :)

Feedback

Let us know what you think! Please leave us a comment below or in the 2.2 beta forum. Thank you!
