Getting Started With Projectfork
First, we will install Projectfork and choose our favorite theme, MyProject theme. Remember that themes must be installed directly in the Projectfork installer and not within the default Joomla Extension Manager. Next, we will create a project called "Joomla Day Austin". The project will consists of several milestones such as Hotel Reservations, Sponsorship, Registration and so on. Below is the project example of Joomla Day Austin. As you can see, you may give your project a deadline and add project information into the editor. You may also invite people to view or edit project settings. When you are done, simply click on save and your project is ready to manage.

Adding Important Event Milestones
After we have created our project(s), we have the option to easily click on the project or the dropdown arrow to select our project workspace. We can now create milestones for Joomla Day Austin. Remember that milestones are just like creating categories. Each milestone may have several tasks with several members. Here we have already created our milestones as shown in the dropdown. Milestones can be sorted by groups, status, and/or priority.

Creating Tasks for Event Milestones
Creating tasks is the same process as creating a project. We will give it a title, deadline, add members, and it the specified milestone. We have created several milestone by now and tasks for each as shown below. You will notice that milestones are in order and the tasks are color coordinated based on priority.

Meeting Event Deadlines
We will use the calendar to keep track of our tasks and meet our deadlines. We may sort our calendar by day, week, or month. If you have multiple projects, you may also sort the calendar by project. The calendar will show milestones and tasks at all times. We can easily edit the milestones and tasks within the calendar and add reminders or general duties; this replaces our need to share Google calendars when we can do so in Projectfork.

Uploading Files for Event
Files may also be uploaded to share amongts members. For instance, we created a folder called T-shirts with a description of Designs and uploaded logos to that folder. These logos will be used for the Joomla Day T-shirts. Easily click on the folder and upload a new file to that folder. Basically, we can have all files, images, or docs within a central location in Projectfork to share amongs members.

Maintaining Projectfork Events
To avoid too many cooks in the kitchen, we are keeping group members at a minimum; however, we have the option to share our progress with new members when needed and requested. It's as easy as pie. When we add a new member, we will also edit the user access level but that's a topic for another time.
Event management using Projectfork couldn't be easier. We have eliminated the use for Google apps and jumped the hoop for non-gmail users. The best part of the system is that project managers don't necessarily need to know Joomla to use it. Projectfork can be used as a stand alone manager on the frontend. Simply hide the Joomla template within the Projectfork Config and the system is all yours. Projectfork is built in such a way that we can customize it however we want. It is a great on-line tool for all events and project managers.
